Following one small miner’s recent success on the Solo CK mining pool, another manages to hit the jackpot just a few days later.
Tiny miners solving huge BTC blocks on the Solo CK pool has become quite a trend recently, despite having odds stacked against them. On January 11th, it was reported that one miner managed to solve a 6.25 Bitcoin block with a hash rate of 126 TH/s.
The news came in from Solo CK’s admin Con Kolivas, and he talked about how this was a "once in a lifetime chance." Little did he know that in just a few days, another small miner will solve yet another BTC block.

On January 11th, he reported on his Twitter account that a miner that "joined less than 2 days ago" scored a block with the same reward - 6.25 BTC, worth around $266k. Funnily enough, this miner was running a rig with an even smaller hash rate which was 116 TH/s.
It is expected that both of these miners were running two rigs at most, with some Twitter users even concerned if there was some sort of exploit. However, Kolivas assured that this was not an exploit, but a "stochastic nature of block solving and extremely lucky solves."
Bitcoin has seen a slight uptrend this week - a 2.75% price increase which puts BTC at an average price of $43,650,56 at the time of writing this article.
