The world-renowned soccer club will be stepping into the metaverse in Sotheby’s virtual auction house.
The sports business has welcomed the NFT and cryptocurrency markets with open arms as they allow teams to engage with their fans, and bring awareness to the future of finance.
According to Liverpool’s official Twitter account, the Premier League soccer club announced its latest digital asset collection titled LFCHeroesClub, featuring NFTs with each player of the team.

With the new auction, the LFCHeroesClub will be donating 10% of all sales/resales and 50% of LFC’s auction proceeds to the LFC Foundation that supports communities across the Liverpool City Region.
The collection includes 24 one-of-a-kind NFTs that are in the starting lineup of the Liverpool FC team. It is safe to assume that the NFT with the highest demand will be the one that features Mohamed Salah, who is considered to be one of the best players in the world.
Likewise, the website will also offer exclusive Hero NFTs that feature the same players in casual or superhero-like apparel. Fans will be able to acquire these collectibles through an online "mystery pack" for $75, with the received NFT being revealed only after the sale has ended.
The sale will begin on March 30th at 4 PM EEST and end on April 1st, at 4 PM. Collectors will be able to pay for the NFTs with fiat currency, BTC, ETH, or USDC.
Similar NFT and metaverse initiatives have been hinted at by other soccer clubs over the past several months.
Back in February, another English Premier League club Manchester City FC announced its plans to launch a virtual representation of their home stadium in the metaverse.
A few days back, the second most valuable soccer club in the world, Paris Saint-Germain, or PSG, listed a trademark for NFTs, cryptocurrency wallets, and the metaverse.
