The BAYC-oriented fast food restaurant stops payments in digital assets only a few months after its launch.
Californian-based Bored & Hungry, one of the few restaurants that accepted crypto payments, has stated that it would no longer be supporting Bitcoin (BTC) and ApeCoin (APE) as a form of payment.
The news actually comes after a few months when the 1,700-square-foot burger restaurant in Long Beach stated that the visitors of the joint would be able to pay for their food and drinks in two cryptocurrencies.

According to the official announcement released on June 24, Bored & Hungry will reportedly be removing any form of crypto altogether. One of the employees working at the restaurant mentioned that the decision came as a surprise as no prior information was issued. On top of that, they said that the customers initially didn’t care much about the possibility of paying for their food in any of the digital assets, as the majority simply opted for US dollars.
Another worker assumed that the initiative was carried out due to the current situation in the crypto ecosystem. As bears still reign supreme on the crypto market, people tend to save their Ethereum (ETH), the employee mentioned.
The two cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin (BTC) and ApeCoin (APE) hyped up by the restaurant actually plummeted around 23% and 17% of their highs over the last year, respectively.
Bored & Hungry, fired up in April, is a fast-food restaurant that was launched by a Los Angeles entrepreneur Andy Nguyen, incorporating four of the characters from the Bored Ape Yacht Club collection and displaying their potential in the marketing sector.
However, fear not, if you still strive for getting a snack by emptying your pockets full of ETH and APE, you can visit any of the Mexican-based Chipotle 2,966 restaurants and pay for your snack in 98 different cryptocurrencies, such as BTC, ETH, or even DOGE.
In fact, some people are not shying away from opening up full crypto-based restaurants. For instance, the Crypto Street Restaurant, which was launched last year in Clearwater Beach, offered its customers the ability to pay for their Crypto Salad and other meals through a merchant account, or by sending the crypto directly to the restaurant owner's digital wallet.
