One of the five Big Tech giants is supposedly preparing to enter the metaverse through its subsidiary in India.
Amazon and Apple have been considerably quiet in the blockchain department compared to the other three US-based tech giants (Google, Meta, and Microsoft). However, the latest announcement by Amazon India might suggest otherwise.
Based on the official Twitter account of Amazon India, the company posted a sneak peek-type announcement, titling it as "something new on the horizon."

Interestingly enough, the post included the OnePlus 10 Pro 5G smartphone (launched the day after the announcement) and, more importantly, the metaverse platform Decentraland.
This most likely suggests that the new OnePlus will be featured in Decentraland’s virtual world, while Amazon will probably purchase a $LAND plot in Decentraland to launch its virtual store where the latest product will be showcased.
In fact, a day after the announcement, Amazon India launched a giveaway on Twitter, asking users to decipher a scrambled word "tevemasre", which obviously stands for "metaverse", in order to get a chance to win some OnePlus accessories. However, the giveaway is restricted to residents of India.
Other tech companies have also launched similar initiatives to present products in the metaverse. Back in January, Samsung presented its 837x metaverse experience in Decentraland, featuring a virtual representation of Samsung’s real-life store in New York.
