Yuga Labs is blamed for illegally using the wolf skull symbol for its Bored Ape Kennel Club (BAKC) collection.
Yuga Labs’ top non-fungible token (NFT) collection, Bored Ape Yach Club’s (BAYC) well-known wolf skull symbol, was reportedly illegally trademarked.
A Twitter user, dubbed Jdotcolombo, found a post shared on April 5th, 2021, in which Easy Drawing Guides shared a “step-by-step tutorial” on how to draw a wolf skull.

The art demonstrated by the platform was just like the symbol displayed in the official logo of BAYC's Kennel Club, raising doubt about the originality of Kennel Club collectibles, which were released on June 17th, 2021.
The launch of NFTs had chiefly focused on offering a solution to the illegitimate utilization of intellectual properties. However, it seems that Yuga Labs did not follow these standards and did everything the other way around.
"Easy Drawing Guides" thanked Jdotcolombo for highlighting the issue and asserted that no license had been obtained by Yuga Labs for the use of the wolf skull sketch. The platform noted:
The intellectual property rights for the drawing belong to Easy Drawing Guides as it's our original drawing and protected by our Terms and Conditions.”
The Terms & Conditions of Easy Drawing Tutorials prohibit using the proprietary content of the platform for commercial purposes.
Greg Solano, the co-founder of Yuga Labs, revealed that the NFT marketplace appointed a freelancer to make the design of the logo.
On top of that, Solano added that Yuga Labs is set to remove the logo and will be asking other marketplaces to do the same. Moreover, Solando noted that the company is investigating the matter internally.
The Bored Ape Kennel Club (BAKC) collection has a total volume of around 194,000 Ether (ETH) and is categorized among the top NFT collections created by Yuga Labs.
