Sophie Watts and Jeff Hood, who are the founders of Metacurio, spoke on the collaboration, stating:
"This is not just a chance to own an astonishing piece of art history but, more importantly, an easy way to directly support the people of Ukraine who are in crisis right now."
All of the proceeds received from the NFT collection will be used to support Ukraine, with the funds going to the Red Cross Ukraine, UNICEF Ukraine, and local relief funds to provide the citizens of Ukraine with humanitarian support.
According to the boxing legend Wladimir Klitschko, he strongly believes that "art can be beautiful on many levels when used to serve humanity", and called the NFT fundraiser a "superb ‘suppart’ at the service of people who suffer."
The NFT collection is hosted on OpenSea and features WhIsBe’s, who is an unidentified street and digital artist, iconic gummy bears that are colored in the colors of the Ukrainian flag.
Creator of the Vandalz for Ukraine collection WhIsBe spoke on his collaboration with Klitschko, stating:
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to be of service for the greater good. It's incredible to be able to use my art and this emerging technology to help others in need and provide immediate relief to any location in the world."
There are four items in the collection, ranging from satin to chrome "Vandal Gummy Bear" NFTs. Collectors and supporters can purchase the Satin Vandal for $100, with the Gloss edition going for approximately $1K, and the Translucent - $10k.
While there is a supply of 10k for each of these digital assets, the collection also features a Chrome Vandal dynamic NFT which is auctioned until March 16th. At the moment, the highest bid for the Chrome Vandal is 100 WETH (approximately $260k). The rest of the NFTs will be available until March 30, 2022.
Just last week, UkraineDAO raised $6.75 million in crypto to purchase the Ukrainian Flag NFT and donated all the proceeds to the Ukrainian NGO and support group Come Back Alive.
