One of the largest metaverse games owned by blockchain-focused software company Animoca Brands surpassed 2M registered accounts.
With the blockchain industry seeing immense growth since the start of the year, blockchain gaming has been on the crypto community’s radar, including large game publishers who are looking to provide players with play-to-earn initiatives.
Based on the official report, the Sandbox metaverse alpha has already brought in over 2 million players and has launched the next season.

With the new season, players are given free access to over 35 metaverse experiences, including a sneak peek into Snoop Dogg’s Snoopverse, a digital replica of Star Ferry Pier in Hong Kong, and Missing Parts by Celsius Online.
Also, there will be 4 new experiences from the Game Maker Fund including Dracula’s Castle, Meta Dungeon, the Funguys Kingdom, and Border Town of Tang Dynasty.
Likewise, players using macOS and Windows will be able to play alongside each other, with new metaverse experiences released almost every single day. In fact, users will have a chance to complete over 200 quests, with raffle ticket rewards for the Season 2 Alpha Pass. Only 10,000 of these passes will be available.
With access to the Season 2 Alpha Pass, players will be able to compete for exclusive rewards and receive up to 1,000 $SAND tokens (about $3000).
The Chief Operating Officer of the Sandbox Sebastien Borget spoke with Venturebeat on the next season, stating:
"Alpha Season 2 will build on the success of the first Alpha Season, which attracted over 200,000 visitors, earned 90% positive feedback, and distributed over five million $SAND."
By having several big names in its metaverse including game publishers, fashion brands, music artists, and cartoons, the Sandbox sets to expand even more, with Borget promising even more metaverse experiences coming in Season 2.
