For many years now, Apple has identified the cultural association with memes and mascot brand promotion. Because of this, the Memoji characters have been a consistent feature that is incorporated into the company’s consumer branding strategy.
On top of that, the cards are similar in appearance to the avatars of RTFKT Studios’ CloneX and animated cards of the second collection of VeeFriends that consists of 10,255 character non-fungible tokens (NFTs) where each displays a particular intellectual property. Moreover, the Easter egg feature has fueled various discussions and rumors regarding the possibility of Apple introducing its own NFTs.
Apple CEO Tim Cook has always displayed confidence in adopting AR and Metaverse technologies. In fact, earlier this year, he announced that the company would be investing in AR developments for its devices as it sees a lot of potential in Metaverse apps.
During the WWDC, participants will be able to get a sneak peek at Apple’s newest platforms and technologies, as well as delve into the brand new tools while connecting with various Apple experts in digital lounges.
In other news, earlier this year, tech giant Microsoft bought Activision Blizzard and its game franchises for $70 million to start building a Metaverse gaming platform.
