NFT Influencer Zeneca Hit by a Phishing Scam

The hackers are believed to have breached Zeneca's Twitter and Discord personal accounts.

Non-fungible token (NFT) influencer Zeneca’s social media accounts have been recently hit by a phishing scam. According to some sources, the compromised Twitter and Discord accounts put a link to a fake airdrop for the influencers "Zen Academy Founders Pass."

"Hey everyone wanted to do something special for the community so here I go! I would like to announce the official release of the Zen Academy Founders Pass airdrop. There will be 333 of these passes to start off. The lucky few that manage to get one."

After an hour, Justin Tayler, Twitter’s head of consumer product marketing, confirmed that the influencer was hacked and immediately shut down Zeneca’s Twitter account.

Zeneca, who has now regained control of his Twitter account, has noted that it is still not yet clear how the hacker managed to breach the account, mentioning that this could have been an “inside job.” Currently, there is no information about how many players in the crypto world were affected by the phishing scam.

The news arrives a day after NFT-based company Yuga Labs warned its users about a potential hack. The company took to Twitter to comment on the situation:

“Our security team has been tracking a persistent threat group that targets the NFT community. We believe that they may soon be launching a coordinated attack targeting multiple communities via compromised social media accounts.”

It seems like crypto-based scams are on the rise now more than ever, with hackers getting away with roughly $1B from traders last year. For instance, back in June, the British Army’s YouTube and Twitter social media accounts were hacked to promote different crypto-related scams.
