NFL Star Antonio Brown Promotes NFT Project, Community Spots Red Flags

NFL’s wide receiver, who previously played for Tampa Bay’s Buccaneers, props up an NFT project which he claims to have "found."

Celebrities have kept their eyes peeled on the NFT craze, pushing out their own projects or purchasing valuable assets from other collections. However, several of these celebrity-pushed NFT projects have miserably failed as they usually turn out to be rug pulls.

On February 27th, the NFL player posted a tweet, stating that he "stumbled upon" an NFT project called BoredPunksNFT which he claims is pretty much the next big thing in the non-fungible token market.

While this might already seem like an obvious promotion, AB made it even more clear that it was indeed a deal made with the NFT project. Initially, he posted a tweet with the same message, but forgot to delete the title "Twitter Caption."

This was a clear indication that the content of the tweet was sent by the owner of the project, which AB was asked to post on his Twitter.

However, fans spotted another gap in the promotion which was a tad bit hilarious. Just below the tweet, he posted a video, showing off the BoredPunkNFT collection, praising how good these NFTs look, and so on.

Funnily enough, when he started talking about the project’s community and mentioned that it consists of "100 Discords", later correcting himself to "100k Discords", showed that he had no idea what he was getting into at all. This brought tears of laughter for some, but disappointed others, especially loyal fans.

For quite a while, this has been an ongoing trend amongst celebrities and influencers who would promote things such as gambling sites that they’ve "randomly came across", but, in reality, they were paid to do a promotion.

Not even a week ago, NBA player De’Aaron Fox allegedly rug pulled his NFT project, taking off with $1.5 million, and claiming that he did not have the time to work on it.
