SuiPlay0x1 will run the Linux-based Playtron OS and will be deeply integrated with the Sui blockchain. This means that users will be able to manage Sui assets and enjoy Web2-like login experiences with Sui’s zkLogin feature, along with the convenience of using Sui wallets for in-store purchases.
Players who purchase this device are also promised exclusive tokens, on-chain rewards, and loyalty schemes. The co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Mysten Labs, Adeniyi Abiodun, has reportedly explained:
We absolutely will give incentives for people to buy the device. We think ultimately the ecosystem of these players will become super valuable long-term, so that investment is a no-brainer from our perspective.
The device is planned to be launched in 2025 at a retail price of $500.
The collaboration is not just about creating a new device but about fostering a rich gaming ecosystem. As the SuiPlay0x1 moves from concept to reality, it promises a versatile gaming experience combined with the advantages of blockchain technology.
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival has also recently merged gaming and blockchain, unveiling Coachella Quests, a loyalty game powered by Avalanche.
