One of the largest tech giants in the world is now looking to boost its cryptocurrency and Web3 development team with a new business development director.
Microsoft had always dabbled in blockchain technologies, with the latest project being the Azure Blockchain Service which got shut down in September of 2021. However, a new job listing may suggest that the tech company may be making its return to blockchain development.
The position was listed on February 7th of 2022 on Microsoft Careers and was advertised on social media by the co-founder of Microsoft’s blockchain department Yorke E. Rhodes III.

As for the job itself, the candidate has to meet several crypto-related requirements including knowledge of Web 3.0, digital assets, blockchain protocols, NFTs, DeFi, and DAOs.
Likewise, the job seeks that the person will "lay the foundation to support and inform Microsoft’s Web 3.0 strategy," meaning that the company may be targeting owners of small crypto startups that have previously built their own projects.
Interestingly enough, the co-founder’s LinkedIn description suggests that the company is most likely working on a large blockchain project:
"My team leads our blockchain transformation work across the cloud supply chain and has already uncovered tens of millions of dollars in hidden costs, improved end-to-end item-level traceability, reduced cycle time, and expanded margins by digitizing items in a shared data structure."
While there haven’t been any official announcements made by Microsoft, the tech giant recently came out with a shocker, announcing the acquisition of Activision Blizzard and all of its franchises.
