Staxe’s curved E Ink display can be compared to a book's spine, which displays a cold wallet holder’s name or other information about the wallet. The cold wallet has several magnets, which allows it to “stack” similar devices onto one another. For this reason, the new model was called “Stax.”
Ledger’s spokesperson stated that, when designing Stax, Tony Fadell thought about how the stack of cash looks. According to the spokesperson, “the spine of the device is like the band around the stack of cash which shows you what's inside.”
When talking about its collaboration with Ledger, iPhone co-inventor Tony Fadell stated:
Digging into Ledger’s proven security technology and trying all the ‘best’ hardware wallets out there convinced me to build a next-gen device with Pascal, Ian and the amazing Ledger team. We need a user-friendly…no! A ‘user-delightful’ tool, to bring digital asset security to the rest of us, not just the geeks.
With Ledger Stax, users can manage over 500 digital assets, their NFT collections, access Web3 apps through the Ledger Live app and connect to smartphones using Bluetooth.
On top of that, customers can use wireless Qi charging and USB-C to connect to the Ledger Live app on the customer's computer.
The company highlighted that Ledger Stax will be available in the first quarter of 2023 and retail for $279. However, customers can now pre-order the product on Ledger's website. The team behind Ledger highlighted that in the future, it expects to bring Ledger Stax select retailers, such as BestBuy, in the US.
