The NFT, called Sunflower, is a recreation of one of Carrey’s paintings that symbolizes rain and bright colors cascading over a person’s face. On top of that, it is additionally complemented by an original voice-over. The actor further described the painting and stated:
“A sunshower seems like you’re being given a divine gift; a form of medicine with miraculous regenerative potential. It’s hard to hang on to skepticism while the air around you is sparkling like diamonds. Sunshower was created directly from acrylic paint tubes. The backgrounds were poured and the canvas was scraped, leaving only an imprint of each color’s first contact with the canvas behind.”
On top of that, according to the official statement, Carey said that he only recently started incorporating his art into life, adding that NFTs have contributed greatly to exploring “new places to create.”
The auction is expected to end in 2 days, as the highest bid in the auction is currently 42.35 Ethereum (ETH), approximately estimated at $57,000.
In other news, earlier this year, the winners of the 66th Eurovision Song Contest (ESC), Ukraine’s hip hop group Kalush Orchestra, sold their glass microphone trophy for 50 ETH, estimated at $900,000. The funds will be reportedly used to aid Ukraine in the midst of Russia’s aggression against the country.
