The program seeks to provide access to financial education and the community with knowledge about the ways in which finances can be controlled, while also underlining the importance of Bitcoin (BTC). According to Dorsey, the program was launched to “prove that making powerful tools more available to people enables them to build greater independence."
On top of that, the scheme will feature various online classes taught by Lamar Wilson, founder of the largest organized Bitcoin social group in the world dubbed Black Bitcoin Billionaire, and Najah J. Roberts, Chief Visionary Officer (CVO) of Crypto Blockchain Plug in Inglewood. Although the subjects addressed in the seminars have not been revealed, attendees may expect to learn about Bitcoin adoption and financial literature.
The program is expected to run twice a week, roll out on June 22, and end on September 7. The attendees will reportedly be given smartphones, MiFi devices, and a one-year limited data plan. On top of that, children are invited to partake in a weekend program dubbed “Crypto Kids Camp.” Block CEO mentioned:
Education is where we start. This isn’t just about bitcoin…it’s about long-term thinking, local economies, and self-confidence. Courses are free to all Marcy residents, including kids. And to make it even easier we’re providing devices and data plans for all who need it.
Jay-Z and Dorsey also explained that the program was launched after the two partners witnessed how Bitcoin (BTC) shifted into an essential tool for people living in Central and South America, as well as Africa. Likewise, Dorsey implied that one day, cryptocurrencies will replace banks and provide many economic opportunities to the public.
"The Bitcoin Academy" is reportedly financed through personal funds from Jay-Z and Jack Dorsey.
In other news, back in January, Block CEO Jack Dorsey announced that the firm was looking to create its own mining system that will be open to all Bitcoin (BTC) miners.
