This browser seeks to encompass more than just standard features. It plans to allow users to digitally sign documents using embedded crypto tokens.

As part of the initiative, MeitY announced the "Indian Web Browser Development Challenge" on August 9th.
The nationwide contest aspires to rally developers across India to create a web browser tailored to the nation's needs, complete with a built-in CCA India root certificate. The official statement from the Ministry reads:
Proposed browser would also focus on accessibility and user friendliness, ensuring built-in support for individuals with diverse abilities.
The crypto token integration, a standout feature, will enable users to authenticate and sign digital documents directly through the browser.
As for the competition's structure, it will be conducted over three phases. The initial round will trim down the participant pool to 18 contenders. Following the second phase, only eight finalists will remain. The ultimate winner of the challenge stands to gain a significant reward of approximately 34 million Indian rupees (equivalent to $411,000).
The Indian government is taking proactive measures in the realms of technology and cryptocurrency. Notably, at the recent G-20 intergovernmental forum, India endorsed the Financial Stability Board's recommendations for a comprehensive crypto regulatory framework. The nation also emphasized the importance of factoring in the nuances of emerging economies when drafting potential guidelines for cryptocurrency operations.
India's foray into integrating cryptocurrency functionalities in native digital solutions, like the proposed web browser, underscores its commitment to embracing modern technological advancements. With its supportive stance on global crypto guidelines and efforts to simplify data compliance for tech firms, India is positioning itself as a forward-thinking player in the global digital arena.
