New rules have been introduced in the United States House of Representatives, permitting members to use only OpenAI's ChatGPT Plus service for artificial intelligence (AI) language models.
It is worth noting that all other AI models are now off the table, a measure aimed at enhancing data security.

In a recent notice from the US House’s Chief Administrative Officer, Catherine Szpindor, the adoption of the ChatGPT Plus service is outlined as a measure to safeguard House data:
House offices using the ChatGPT artificial intelligence chatbot are only authorized to use the ChatGPT Plus version of the product. The Plus version of the product incorporates important privacy features that are necessary to protect House data.
Further details clarify that currently, "no other versions of ChatGPT or other large language models Al software are authorized for use in the House currently."
The document also outlines specific provisions, limiting the usage of the software to "research and evaluation only" and prohibiting the integration of ChatGPT into members' "regular workflow."
The guidelines also caution against sharing sensitive data as prompts and necessitate that all privacy settings in the ChatGPT Plus service would be enabled.
In April, OpenAI enabled a feature allowing users of ChatGPT and ChatGPT Plus to delete their chat histories and accounts. Even so, deleted information remains on the ChatGPT servers for an additional 30 days.
On top of that, cybersecurity firm Group-IB recently shared a report revealing that over 100,000 login details of ChatGPT were compromised and circulated on the dark web.
These new guidelines exclusively approving ChatGPT Plus for AI usage will directly impact the members of the US House. This development underscores the crucial role of AI and the importance of careful consideration in its use, particularly in governmental institutions.
