The fans of Titanic will soon be able to hold a digital version of historical artifacts from the sunken ship.
Artifact Labs, an independent non-fungible token (NFT) and Web3 platform, has joined forces with Hong Kong-based Venture Smart Financial Holdings and RMS Titanic (RMST) to bring Titanic’s physical artifacts into Web3.
In the press release, Artifact Labs stated that it will preserve nearly 5,500 physical artifacts and turn them into an NFT collection, dubbed "ARTIFACTs."

The owners of Titanic’s NFTs will be able to unlock exclusive benefits, such as “privileged access to one-of-a-kind experiences,” VIP events, and seminars with historians. On top of that, the NFT holders will be given a chance to interact with exclusive RMST digital content.
When commenting on the new initiative, RMS Titanic President, Jessica Sanders, stated that this project will help to share the legacy of Titanic with wider audiences and future generations.
As the salvor-in-possession of the Titanic wreck site, we are determined to ensure that the Ship's artifacts are preserved in perpetuity and accessible to future generations. We believe that moving into the digital space allows us to reach a broader audience with quality programming that educates and inspires.
On top of that, Artifact Labs plans to launch Titanic DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization). The members of Titanic DAO will be able to have a say on various RMST and E/M Group initiatives and proposals, such as research initiatives, future dive expeditions to the Titanic site, digital content, and partnerships.
Artifact Labs founder Gary Liu emphasized that the company is delighted to be “among the Titanic’s guardians.” Artifact Labs' founder stated:
The Titanic is one of the most treasured pieces of history in the world, and we are privileged to be part of its story. This incredible project will forever preserve the ocean liner on the blockchain and further expand its impact and importance to a global audience.
At the time of writing, it is unclear when historical artifact NFTs will be launched and how much they will cost.
