With this new initiative, Georgians will be able to pay for their hotel reservations, grocery shopping, and dining at restaurants with cryptocurrencies, like Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), or USD Coin (USDC).
It is worth noting that Georgians will be able to pay for their meals at a popular fast-food chain Wendy’s, which is listed among CityPay.io's partners.
When commenting on the partnership, Feng Zhou, the director of Gate Pay, noted:
Gate Pay was launched with a vision to bridge the gap between Web3 and people's daily life by connecting millions of users with crypto-friendly businesses, products, and applications.
To achieve this, the Gate Pay team has allied with partners like CityPay.io to supply merchants with crypto payment services.
The alliance of Gate Pay and CityPay.io brings the Web3 shopping experience to a wider audience, encompassing regional merchants and customers.
This partnership shows a significant step forward in making cryptocurrency payments an integral part of daily life in Georgia, paving the way for broader adoption of digital currencies in the region.
Georgia has become one of the most crypto-friendly nations in Europe, with companies striving to open their regional offices in the country. Crypto exchange Binance has recently announced plans to set up a blockchain hub in Georgia.
