The Emirate's airline gave the green light to add cryptocurrency and metaverse into their strategy.
According to the company, the addition of such digital solutions as BTC and NFTs will provide the airline with a more easy and flexible way to connect with their customers.
By adding that “NFTs and metaverse are two different applications and approaches,” the Emirates Chief Operating Officer (COO) Adel Ahmed Al-Redha suggested that the company also plans to adopt metaverse and blockchain technology in tracing their planes.

Al-Redha also implied that the airline plans to employ more people who will be responsible for handling crypto, NFTs, and metaverse. This way, the new hires will be able to build blockchain-related apps in order to identify their customers’ needs.
The executive also expanded on his choice to implement such blockchains into the company’s strategy. He stated that:
“With the metaverse, you will be able to transform your whole processes — whether it is in operation, training, sales on the website, or complete experience — into a metaverse type application, but more importantly making it interactive.”
For instance, the customers will be able to utilize non-fungible tokens (NFT collectibles) through the company’s website for trading purposes. In addition, clients will have the ability to use BTC as a payment method in order to purchase various services from the airline.
At the time, it is not clear when the company will launch its NFTs and add BTC as a payment service. However, Al-Redha informed that "first projects are already underway."
Emirates is the world's fourth-largest airline owned by the government of Dubai's Investment Corporation of Dubai. The COO also commented on the airline's situation. He implied that due to the increase in passenger traffic, the company keeps showing significant numbers after the COVID-19 pandemic.
