The performance will be greatly influenced by the Otherside metaverse and Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFTs. Some announcements claim that Eminem and Snoop Dogg will perform from inside of “Yuga Labs’ upcoming metaverse game “Otherside.”
Both artists are big NFT advocates, holding Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs, which were included in the song's music video. Eminem bought his NFT at the end of December, paying 123.45 ETH (around $450,000). The rapper uses his BAYC NFT as a profile picture for his Twitter account. According to sources, Eminem has collected around 28 other NFTs under the name Shady_Holdings.
Snoop Dogg bought his BAYC NFTs on December 22. Moreover, Snoop Dogg recently collaborated with SandBox and launched “The Doggies” NFT collection.
The music video, which includes BAYC NFTs, has been a great hit with almost 47 million views. Moreover, the song has been nominated for “Best Hip-Hop” in 2022 VMA’s.
It is also worth noting that MTV has added a “Best Metaverse Performance” category to this year’s VMAs. Including nominees like Ariana Grande, BTS, BLACKPINK, Charlie XCX, Justin Bieber, and Twenty-One Pilots.
Moreover, there were several collaborations and music-related NFT launches. NFT marketplace OneOf has collaborated with The Christopher Wallace Estate to create the Biggie Smalls NFT collection, which has sold out in less than a day.
On top of that, English rock band Muse has released their album “Will of the People” as an NFT. Whereas R3HAB and Laidback Luke released a single “Weekend on a Tuesday” together with the NFTs collection, which allows NFT owners to receive a part of the song’s streaming revenues.
