Do Kwon, who was arrested in Montenegro for using forged travel documents, could serve at least a year in the country's prison.
According to one legal expert, Do Kwon will experience "grim" prison conditions in Montenegro, even as he faces possible extradition. South Korea and the United States have begun extradition efforts for Terraform Labs CEO Do Kwon.
However, Montenegro Minister of Justice Marko Kovac states that Montenegro will prosecute Kwon before considering extradition requests.

According to the Protos report shared on March 29th, Do Kwon cannot expect a hotel-like service during his sentence in Montenegro prison. The report cited a 2020 human rights report compiled by the US Justice Department, which found that the conditions in jail were "grim."
According to the human rights report, prisoners are packed in an 8-meter square room in groups of up to 11 people. In most cases, there is no bed.
The report states that all prisoners are held in their cells for over 23 hours a day, with a 30-minute break, during which they can purchase goods like coffee and cigarettes at the commissar.
Besides crowding and prolonged confinement, cases of violence between prisoners are common. Additionally, correctional officers have been reported inflicting violence and torture on prisoners.
A local criminal defense lawyer claimed that "things haven’t changed since the report."
Upon arrest, you’re held in quarantine for 10 days to ensure you’re not suffering from Covid-19. The rooms are pretty okay — you’re sharing with just one or two people. But after the quarantine period, detainees are moved to a general facility along with others awaiting trial.
According to Protos, Kwon is likely to be indicted within a month. Kwon’s lawyer has said he plans to appeal. If he does, an appeal can take up to five months to be analyzed. If that fails, he will have to wait at least a year in prison for an appeal at the Supreme Court.
Kwon faces from six months to five years in prison if convicted in Montenegro. After that, various factors will be weighed when deciding where he will be extradited.
On March 23rd, Do Kwon was arrested with an associate Han Chang Joon for using forged travel documents in the Podgorica airport.
