The animation studio has joined up with an app-based marketplace VeVe to launch several NFTs with Disney’s world-renowned animated film characters.
With large music corporations releasing NFT collections for their artists, the film industry giants are seemingly making their way into the digital asset industry.
Based on the official report by VeVe, the mobile app has partnered with the most recognized animation studio Pixar to release an NFT collection called Pixar PALS. The digital assets will involve characters from Toy Story, Monsters University, Cars, Up, and The Incredibles.

NFTs are obtainable by purchasing VeVe’s Blind Boxes that contain one of five characters/objects: Woody (Toy Story), Mike Wazowski (Monsters University), Lightning McQueen (Cars), The House (Up), Edna Mode (The Incredibles).
Each of these NFTs can be earned by opening the same Blind Box for $60 or traded on VeVe’s built-in marketplace. As of the 13th of March, the collection is available for purchase on the VeVe app.
By having NFTs already in place, it seems that Disney might be looking to expand its metaverse efforts. Back in December of 2021, a patent titled virtual world simulator was trademarked by Disney, and later in January of 2022, Disney’s Head of Digital Technology talked about the upcoming technologies and Disney’s Theme Park Metaverse.
