Blockchain technology has seen some unprecedented advancements in the past few years. Most of these advancements revolve around the topic of transaction security (i.e. new encryption methods), however, blockchain developers have also found ways of how to improve scalability, offer off-chain services, and integrate cross-chain protocols.
If you’re a blockchain developer, finding relevant information can prove to be time-consuming and challenging. This is where Coinbase steps in.
In a recent news release, Coinbase announced Kryptology - a crypto-related library that they are launching. The purpose of this library is to help those very same blockchain developers by providing them with a wide variety of different tools that they might require.

The library will house different repositories, user-friendly APIs, and a whole bunch of tools that should help developers identify common issues, and solve them in a fast and efficient manner.
This is notable news, especially coming from Coinbase. Being one of the largest and most-popular cryptocurrency exchange platforms on the market, Coinbase has a reputation for putting an emphasis on cryptography- and cryptocurrency-related education. The platform even offers its users the chance to learn about crypto, and get paid while doing so, too.
Following that, the Kryptology library has the potential to become a notable tool for blockchain developers working on projects relating to the aforementioned security features, as well as other aspects of cryptocurrencies and crypto projects.
The core purpose behind Kryptology, however, is centered around cryptographic innovations. Coinbase states that they understand how cryptography has allowed cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum to exist, and how the crypto industry furthers cryptographic innovation, as a whole.
The company also claims that their core goal with Kryptology is to further “elevate the standard for what is considered to be a robust, usable cryptographic library”. Kryptology is said to be very simple to navigate through and use, and also safeguarded from accidental misuse or mistakes.
A full and thorough guide on the Kryptology library can be found in Coinbase's repository, on GitHub. Blockchain developers are able to access it, inspect the code, and use the resources provided within. The project is open-source, and thus, available for anyone to be checked, inspected, and utilized.
To finish off their announcement, Coinbase states that they hope to be able to support an ever-growing and thriving community concerned with cryptography, and the development of a constantly evolving ecosystem. This is true both when it comes to the application of the technology to older and already well-known projects, as well as new and up-and-coming ideas, too.
