The collaborative venture between the software company, Chainalysis and the Calgary Police Service can be traced back to April 2023. This joint effort launched the Western Canada Cryptocurrency Investigations Centre, a dedicated unit for crypto-centric wrongdoings.
In August, the Bank of Canada published data highlighting a downward trend in national cryptocurrency holdings. The central bank's findings revealed that, as of the end of 2022, a mere 10.1% of Canadians possessed Bitcoin (BTC) — a noticeable drop from 13.1% in 2021.
