CEO of Binance Changpeng Zhao announced that a new scam has emerged - users receiving text messages with a phishing link.
The crypto industry has been plagued by hackers looking to extract cryptocurrencies from digital asset platforms and exchanges for the past couple of months. However, there are other ways that hackers can target users without breaching crypto platforms.
According to a tweet posted by CZ, multiple customers have received text messages containing a fake Binance link that directs users to a scam site, where login credentials to the crypto exchange may be compromised.

The SMS contains a message alerting users that someone made a withdrawal request from their accounts, and asks to press the fake link.
This is a common theme amongst scammers that try to infiltrate bank accounts that require mobile verification to log in. They usually send out emails or text messages asking users to "verify their credentials" and press on a phishing link so they can hijack their password or security code.
With Binance being one of the most secure crypto exchanges, this scam attempt is probably out of its control, unless the senders' identity gets revealed.
