Apple spends millions to secure rights to Michael Lewis' book about Sam Bankman-Fried.
Sam Bankman-Fried, the former CEO of the cryptocurrency exchange FTX, has captivated the tech and financial worlds alike. Now, his story is slated to become a book, the rights for which have just been secured by Apple for a staggering $5 million.
After outmaneuvering other bidders, Apple has successfully purchased exclusive rights to Michael Lewis' forthcoming book, "Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon."

The announcement about Apple's new purchase came on September 7th, revealing that the book is scheduled for release on October 3rd. This date, announced at the Bitcoin 2023 conference in Miami, is particularly noteworthy as it coincides with the start of Bankman-Fried's criminal trial in New York.
The narrative surrounding Bankman-Fried isn't confined to the book alone. Nanette Burstein, a filmmaker acclaimed for her documentaries on the late crypto entrepreneur John McAfee and former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, is reportedly in the planning stages of a documentary on the embattled former FTX chief.
However, the timelines for these productions are uncertain, considering ongoing strikes by the Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild. It is worth noting that before the labor strikes, a potential film delving into the relationship between Bankman-Fried and Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao was discussed.
Before facing legal troubles and his arrest in the Bahamas, Bankman-Fried had established himself as a prominent figure in the crypto community. He was hailed as a wunderkind who had successfully managed enormous assets through his firms, Alameda Research and FTX.
It's worth mentioning that documentaries on crypto topics and personalities are not new. In July, the news broke that Web3 studio Toonstar was planning to launch an animated comedy series entitled "FORTUN3," a satirical take on the defunct crypto exchange FTX and its former CEO.
Apple's acquisition of the exclusive rights to Michael Lewis' book on Sam Bankman-Fried highlights the public's ongoing intrigue with the crypto sector and its leading figures. As the legal proceedings against Bankman-Fried draw nearer, the book and any subsequent documentaries will offer a compelling look at a man who was once an emblematic figure in the rapidly evolving world of cryptocurrency.
