Jared Isaacman has been nominated as the administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), according to the announcement by United States President-elect Donald Trump on December 4.
Should his appointment be confirmed, Isaacman would succeed Bill Nelson, a seasoned Democrat from Florida, and become the 15th individual to lead NASA.
Isaacman is closely linked to Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX. He played a key role in the Inspiration4 mission in 2021, a landmark private spaceflight that utilized SpaceX's Crew Dragon Resilience spacecraft.

Before his rise in fintech and space exploration, Isaacman co-founded and led Draken International, a defense aerospace contractor serving the US Department of Defense. His background in defense and aerospace will likely inform his new role at NASA.
Trump noted in his post:

Following Trump's announcement, Isaacman posted on X, saying, "I am honored to receive President Trump’s nomination to serve as the next Administrator of NASA. Having been fortunate to see our amazing planet from space, I am passionate about America leading the most incredible adventure in human history".
