As the name suggests, OKEx Blockdream Ventures is the venture part of the well-known cryptocurrency exchange ecosystem OKEx. They have recently announced a partnership with SYN CITY, a play-to-earn (P2E) blockchain-based game that’s set to launch a mafia-themed metaverse shortly. This partnership will allow SYN CITY to receive top-tier services from a globally-known crypto exchange platform - services that include customer support optimization, operations consulting, and many more.
The mafia-themed game in question was founded by the former Head of Business of TRON - Roy Liu. The game is currently completely free-to-play. With the introduction of the aforementioned metaverse, SYN CITY will develop a unique version of the traditional DAO governance system - Mafia-as-a-DAO (MaaD).
MaaD will aim to motivate players to engage the world, and create their own syndicates within SYN CITY. The project (game) is being developed by some world-class game developers who have previously worked with companies such as Ubisoft, EA, Disney, and others.
OKEx Blockdream Ventures, being an investment-oriented institution, aims to find the top blockchain-based projects with the highest potential. The venture firm supports blockchain innovations, and focuses on long-term projects that are bound to create value for the infrastructure of blockchain technology, in the future.
With an initial capital of $100 million, OKEx Blockdream Ventures aims to help up-and-coming crypto-related projects find their place within the industry, and bring intrinsic value to the world of blockchain, as a whole.
SYN CITY co-founder, Roy Liu, emphasized the importance of this partnership with the following statement:
“Our exponentially growing community now has a clear and vital awareness of the full dimensions of OKEx Blockdream Ventures’ interconnectedness to the rest of the blockchain ecosystem. This is an exciting alliance because a world-leading exchange’s token fund is now providing real-world fungibility to one of the few evergreen genres among all the entertainment products worldwide."
SYN CITY offers a unique take on P2E games, itself being free-to-play. It is because of this reason that the game has received venture capital backing from other prominent investors, and not just OKEx Blockdream Ventures. Right before the genesis launch of the game in question, the co-founder of Twitch Justin Kan, as well as Goat Capital, funded the project with $8 million. Other SYN CITY backings include the Spartan Group, A&T Capital, Hack VC, Animoca brands, and others.
