Maple's first lending pool is set to launch at some point in July.
Maple Finance, the innovative Web3 lending platform, has taken a pivotal step to announce its direct lending initiative called Maple Direct.
The recent development, unveiled in a fact sheet on June 28th, is set to fill the service void left by the collapse of fellow lenders Celsius, BlockFi, and others.

According to the official announcement, the launch of Maple's inaugural lending pool is slated for sometime in July.
This initiative signifies a departure from the platform's standard lending model. The Maple team is poised to fulfill the role of a lender in specific scenarios, leveraging its unique credit underwriting expertise to channel capital from institutional allocators to creditworthy borrowers.
The team at Maple Finance explains this innovative program is necessary given the exit of major Web3 lenders and the inability of traditional financial institutions to cater to the evolving needs of Web3 tech firms. As they elaborated, banks “do not have the necessary focus or expertise to underwrite to the innovative group” of companies in this space.
The first lending pool of this direct lending scheme is set to focus on funding "infrastructure, asset management, <and> liquidity providers." Capital allocators, including "Crypto Funds, DAOs, VCs, HNWI, Yield Aggregators, <and> Family Offices," who are looking to earn yields are invited to participate in the program.
The introduction of the Maple Direct program, however, doesn't signal the end of the current platform. Maple will "continue to expand its existing services," hinting that the new venture will coexist with the platform's current structure of competing lenders.
As a prominent blockchain institutional capital marketplace, Maple Finance caters to Web3 businesses seeking loans to finance product launches or expansions. Before this announcement, the platform depended on credit professionals or "pool delegates" to provide capital for loans.
In the wake of major bankruptcies among Web3 lenders, Maple Finance's innovative direct lending program is a bold response to fill the gap left by companies like Celsius and BlockFi. By launching this initiative, Maple Finance not only presents an opportunity for creditworthy borrowers to have limited options but also offers a new avenue for capital allocators seeking returns on their investments.
