To kickstart its virtual presence, the platform will host a debut collection by aerial photographer Luke Ozawa. The team behind the platform commented:
From May 30th, aerial photographer Luke Ozawa’s first digital photo will be converted to NFT. One of them will be sold with a positive film, which is the source of photo development. The price is 100,000 yen, and the NFT with the positive film will be sold at auction.
Following the inaugural collection, a second set of NFTs will go live on June 7th. This series features NFT renditions of ANA's first Boeing 787 aircraft.
Regarding the matter, the airline explained:
Selling āāas a 3D model airplane. There are 787 items each of the two types, for a total of 1,574 items, and the price is 7,870 yen.
In August last year, ANA Neo, ANA's subsidiary and collaborator for the NFT platform, began developing GranWhale as a virtual travel platform. It was designed to utilize technologies like VR to recreate and represent worldwide destinations and cultures in Metaverse parks. Reflecting on the platform's objectives, ANA Neo president Mitsuo Tomita previously stated:
The arrow in the symbol <logo> represents the virtual and the real, respectively, and the fusion of the two symbolizes the ANA GranWhale flying straight into the future with stability and growth, where Web 3.0 and metaverse travel will become more commonplace.
ANA's foray into the NFT market demonstrates an increasing interest among traditional industries in embracing blockchain and digital assets. With its unique aeronautics-themed NFTs, the airline is set to chart a new course in the customer experience, blending the physical and virtual realms to create an innovative travel-related offering in the blockchain space.
