Roblox, the online gaming giant with a monthly user base exceeding 200 million, has opened its doors to XRP as a payment option.
To streamline the addition of XRP, Roblox has joined hands with Xsolla, the company that handles its in-game payment system. Partnering with Xsolla for this venture is BitPay, which will establish a connection between users' crypto wallets and the gaming platform.

BitPay announced this significant development on October 17th via the social platform X (formerly known as Twitter).
This is not the first time Xsolla has ventured into the crypto space. In August 2022, Xsolla collaborated with Coinchange Financial and TradeZing to bring non-fungible tokens (NFTs) into its payment solutions. Moreover, just two months ago, in August 2023, Xsolla strengthened its crypto offerings by integrating Crypto.com's checkout feature into its Pay Station platform.
The partnership between BitPay and Xsolla has a rich history, dating back to 2014 when Xsolla began accepting Bitcoin. Fast forward to September 2023, and the two companies introduced PayPal USD payments. This integration helped companies expand the payment options for merchants and consumers.
Roblox is a cross-platform sensation, available on Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. With daily active users of around 66 million, a significant portion of whom, 44%, are below the age of 13, this new move is expected to further energize the already thriving Roblox economy. In the first quarter of 2023 alone, users splurged approximately $773 million on in-game purchases.
The inclusion of XRP as a payment method on Roblox underscores the expanding acceptance of cryptocurrencies in mainstream platforms. With BitPay and Xsolla steering this initiative, millions of Roblox users now have another secure and efficient way to engage in the platform's robust in-game economy.
