In a surprising move, ArchiveNode.io has announced the termination of its services, attributing the decision to the successful accomplishment of its primary goals.
For over three years, the platform has been a go-to source for "developers, students, and researchers" in the crypto community, providing free access to Ethereum mainnet archive node services.
However, according to April 3rd announcement, the team behind ArchiveNode.io decided to "sunset" the platform, recognizing the Ethereum Archive Node's significant contributions to the crypto space.

The team behind ArchiveNode.io believes it played a "major role in changing the landscape of the RPC provider market for archive data access forever."
Initially, Archive Nodes were scarce, with the only viable option being to pay Ethereum infrastructure provider "Infura" a steep $250 monthly fee for access to archive data.
The primary objective of ArchiveNode.io was to "get archive data into the hands of developers, students, and researchers who wanted to build cool shit but didn’t have the time, money, or resources available to run their own archive node." In the blog post, "DeFi Dude" emphasized that the project's intentions were never to generate profit or revenue.
"DeFi Dude," the visionary behind the project, stated that the closure was a direct result of the project's success.
Our service is no longer necessary and other alternatives exist today that did not exist when we got started.
Moreover, "DeFi Dude" added that since the launch of ArchiveNode.io, the remote procedure call (RPC) provider market has flourished, making the company's services no longer needed.
In their closing statement, the team behind ArchiveNode.io expressed their gratitude to the Ethereum Foundation for their initial $10,000 Amazon Web Services (AWS) credits grant, which had been extremely important in getting the project going.
