Students in El Salvador's public schools could start learning about Bitcoin in 2024.
The government of El Salvador is teaming up with the nonprofit organization Mi Primer Bitcoin (MPB), or "My First Bitcoin," to integrate Bitcoin-related studies into the public education curriculum by 2024.
In an announcement, John Dennehy, the brain behind MPB, highlighted that the initiative is spearheaded by El Salvador's Ministry of Education. However, MPB and Bitcoin Beach are providing support to get the program up and running.

The curriculum will borrow heavily from the existing MPB program, which offers students a diploma for their Bitcoin education.
Starting September 7th, an initial training phase will commence, engaging 150 teachers from 75 public schools to equip them with foundational Bitcoin knowledge. The training will be facilitated by Bitcoin Beach.
When talking about the project, Dennehy emphasized the importance of this pilot, stating:
As the first nation to adopt Bitcoin, El Salvador will be an example for the world. Quality education is our best chance to ensure that that example is a positive one.
Afterward, teachers will implement the newly crafted curriculum in their respective schools. If the initial run proves effective, the Ministry of Education plans to deploy the program across all public schools in El Salvador by 2024.
Roman Martínez, a leading figure in the Bitcoin Beach community, mentioned in a recent interview that the educational initiative has already made an impact, with over 25,000 students in the country having received some level of Bitcoin education.
Dennehy also shared future plans for MPB. According to the man, the focus is not limited to El Salvador; MPB aims to make Bitcoin education global.
