Base Network inches closer to its official launch.
Coinbase's Base network revolutionized user experience by launching a user interface (UI) upgrade, empowering end-users to onboard effortlessly without the need for developer tools.
Base's recent innovation removes the barrier that restricted the mainnet launch on July 13th to builders alone. This groundbreaking transformation is anchored in a crucial update that, for the first time, furnishes users with a functioning UI for its bridge from Ethereum, superseding the need to utilize command-line developer tools to bridge ETH.

On August 3rd, the team triumphantly announced the immediate availability of the bridge UI. While users can commence utilization of the network without delay, it is worth noting that initial Web3 applications might remain inaccessible until the official inauguration on August 9th.
The excitement doesn't stop with the technical innovation. The team also announced a month-long celebration titled "Onchain Summer." Describing the essence of the event, the announcement declared that each day would be filled with activities celebrating art, music, gaming, advocacy, and more, offering something "fun to do onchain."
Incentives are part of the festive atmosphere. Over 100 Ether (ETH), valued at approximately $184,000, will be awarded in grants to those who breathe life into the network through artistic expressions, innovative protocols, or educational initiatives.
From August 9th to September 13th, creators of Base-related content and developers of new network protocols will stand a chance to earn these generous ETH grants. Additional rewards, including Base-related non-fungible tokens and ETH, will be handed to users who bridge to the network or accomplish educational "quests."
However, the road leading to this milestone has not been without its bumps. In the early days of Base, when it was exclusively available to builders, investors fell into a trap with meme coins like Pond0x (PNDX) and Bald (BALD), resulting in losses amounting to millions. These unfortunate incidents were marked by several regrettable decisions and technical mishaps, culminating in the collapse of investments and significant financial losses.
Base's forthcoming official launch signifies a bold step forward in user accessibility and community engagement. While past misadventures offer valuable lessons, the future looks promising with a clear commitment to innovation, creativity, and inclusivity. The forthcoming "Onchain Summer" event and the newly launched user-friendly bridge interface set the stage for an exciting new chapter in the Base network's journey.
